Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose is currently hospitalized but has shown movement in all his extremities following a distressing helmet-to-helmet collision during a game against the Houston Texans on Sunday. As of Monday morning, the Dolphins reported that initial evaluations at a local Houston hospital returned “positive results” after the incident.
The incident took place when DuBose attempted to make a catch in the third quarter but was struck in the head by safety Calen Bullock, causing him to hit the ground hard. After the impact, DuBose was observed with clenched fists, a reaction often associated with traumatic brain injuries, before he became motionless. Medical personnel attended to him for about 10 minutes on the field. To ensure his safety, his jersey was removed, and he was fitted with a neck brace while teammates and others on the field expressed their concern by kneeling in solidarity.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel expressed hope for DuBose’s recovery, stating they would be eager to welcome him back once doctors allow him to fly. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has faced similar injuries in the past, acknowledged the emotional toll such incidents can take on players and expressed regret for the circumstances leading to DuBose’s injury.
DuBose was making his return to the field after missing several games due to a shoulder injury, and the team emphasized the importance of supporting each other during difficult moments. Cornerback Kader Kohou shared relief at receiving encouraging news about DuBose’s condition and highlighted the team’s collective concern for both him and his family during this time.
In a time of uncertainty, the positive updates regarding DuBose’s health showcase the resilience and camaraderie of the Dolphins team. It’s a reminder of the strong bonds formed within sports teams and the outpouring of support from teammates, fans, and the football community at large.
