Dollywood has exciting plans for thrill-seekers, announcing a new ride set to debut in the 2026 season. Named NightFlight Expedition, this innovative attraction combines elements of a hybrid coaster and a whitewater river ride, inviting guests to join characters Cora and Jasper Oakley on a fantastical exploration of the enigmatic Secret Lake.

According to the park’s website, NightFlight Expedition will take adventurers through four distinct experiences. Riders will have the opportunity to soar over the stunning Smoky Mountains, plunge into exhilarating whitewater rapids, navigate a winding mountainside, and glide across the mysterious lake, all while embarking on what the park describes as an “extraordinary journey.”

The park highlighted the unique concept of this attraction, stating, “Embarking on a daring journey aboard remarkable vehicles, adventurers will experience four thrilling experiences in a first-of-its-kind attraction.” This promises to offer a captivating blend of excitement and narrative as guests navigate through the park’s immersive environments.

NightFlight Expedition will be located within a spacious 44,000-square-foot indoor facility, making it a weather-independent destination and larger than four football fields. It will join the existing twelve attractions of Wildwood Grove, contributing to the overarching story of this magical area just beyond the hollow log. As Dollywood expands its offerings, it continues to enhance its charm, providing an even more delightful experience for families wishing to enjoy quality time surrounded by the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

The eagerly anticipated ride is set to open in Spring 2026, creating further excitement for future visits to Dollywood.

Unfortunately, the announcement event was bittersweet as beloved country icon Dolly Parton had to miss it due to a health issue. In a heartfelt video message, she informed fans that she had encountered a kidney stone that led to an infection. “The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better,’” Parton explained, expressing her disappointment at not being able to attend. Despite her absence, she assured fans, “I’m here with you in spirit,” demonstrating her continued connection to the park and its visitors.

As Dollywood prepares for this thrilling addition, fans and families alike can look forward to more exciting adventures in the years to come, reinforcing the park’s commitment to providing unforgettable experiences in a beautiful setting.
