Country music icon Dolly Parton has postponed her much-anticipated Las Vegas residency, “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” which marks her first residency in 32 years, due to ongoing health challenges. Parton shared the news with her fans on social media, expressing her disappointment and humorously referring to her situation as a “100,000-mile check-up.” The decision comes after doctors advised her to undergo several medical procedures, though she did not disclose specifics.
Originally scheduled to perform six shows at Caesars Palace from December 4 to 13, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo, the shows have now been shifted to September 2026. Parton emphasized her dedication to delivering the best possible performance for her audience, stating, “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.” Ticket holders were reassured that their tickets remain valid for the new dates, and refunds are available for those who cannot attend.
Despite these health setbacks, Parton remains optimistic and committed to her craft. Addressing fans’ concerns, she assured them, saying, “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.” Parton acknowledged the need to slow down temporarily to prepare for future endeavors.
Parton’s career continues to thrive outside of live performances. She will launch a new book, “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage,” on November 11, and a Broadway musical inspired by her life is set to debut in 2026. Earlier health issues, such as a kidney stone leading to an infection, prompted her to miss a recent event at her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee. At the time, Parton expressed her regret at being absent, affirming her presence in spirit.
The emotional weight of these events comes during a period of personal reflection for Parton, who experienced the recent loss of her devoted husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March. This poignant moment in her life only reinforces her resilience and determination to continue creating and sharing her music and stories with the world.
In light of these challenges, the entertainment industry often sees veteran artists like Parton prioritize their health to ensure they can continue enriching their audiences for years to come. This decision underscores the artist’s commitment to maintaining the high-quality performances her fans expect while also addressing the reality of the demands on performers’ well-being.
