Dodgers Shake Up Roster: New Pitcher Set for Major League Debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a key roster adjustment ahead of their series opener against the Washington Nationals. The team has recalled right-handed pitcher Will Klein and optioned Jack Little to make room.

Following his Major League debut the previous night against the San Diego Padres, Little’s outing was eventful. He faced controversy when he hit Fernando Tatis Jr. with a pitch, sparking a benches-clearing incident. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was ejected from that game and later expressed frustration over the Padres’ reaction, emphasizing that Little did not intend to hit Tatis. “I’m taking starters out of the game, trying to get this game over with and get this kid a couple innings,” Roberts noted, advocating for the understanding of intent in such situations.

In his brief appearance, Little allowed two earned runs on four hits in two innings. With the move, Klein, who was acquired from the Seattle Mariners in a recent trade that saw pitcher Joe Jacques head to Seattle, steps into the spotlight. Klein has not yet made an MLB appearance this season and has had a challenging run with a 7.17 ERA at Triple-A Tacoma, although he did accumulate 32 strikeouts and three saves in 22 games.

The Dodgers hope that Klein’s addition will strengthen their bullpen as he is set to make his anticipated Major League debut against the Nationals.

In light of the challenges faced, this roster decision brings in fresh energy and potential for the Dodgers, offering a chance for Klein to prove his worth at the highest level of baseball.
