The Los Angeles Dodgers are beginning to receive some encouraging updates regarding their injured pitchers this season. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow is the closest to returning from injury, with expectations set for his comeback to the rotation next week following three successful rehab starts in Triple-A.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentioned, “We don’t have a particular day yet, but to see him back online next week at some point on the road is very feasible.” Glasnow, a 2024 National League All-Star, threw 78 pitches over 4.1 innings in his latest outing, and prior to a shoulder injury sidelining him in April, he recorded a 4.50 ERA across five starts. The team is hopeful that Glasnow can remain healthy this time, especially since he missed their World Series run last season due to elbow tendinitis.
In addition to Glasnow, left-handed pitcher Blake Snell and right-handed reliever Blake Treinen are also making noteworthy progress in their recoveries. Both pitchers faced live batters again during practice, and Roberts expressed satisfaction with their performances. Snell, recovering from a shoulder injury, is slated to begin a rehab assignment late next week, while Treinen, who battled a forearm strain, also showed promise during his live batting session.
Snell’s addition to the roster is particularly anticipated as he signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers over the offseason but has only made two starts this season. Treinen, a vital contributor during the Dodgers’ previous World Series victory, will be a welcome return to the bullpen, especially after posting a 2.19 ERA in the postseason last year.
As several starting pitchers have faced injuries, the bullpen has had to shoulder the load, highlighting the importance of Glasnow, Snell, and Treinen’s returns in bolstering the team’s pitching depth.
This positive momentum in recovery offers hope for the Dodgers as they aim to solidify their rotation and maintain competitiveness in the league moving forward.
