Dodgers Make Waves in MLB Draft with New Rising Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers made headlines on Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft by selecting Landyn Vidourek, an outfielder from the University of Cincinnati, as their fourth and final pick, hitting the No. 104 overall spot in the third round. This selection follows the Dodgers’ objective to strengthen their roster with promising talent.

Vidourek, a left-handed hitter, showcased his versatility as a two-way player during his high school days at Badin High School, where he also played quarterback for the football team. Throughout his collegiate career, he demonstrated consistent performance, finishing his three years with a batting line of .270/.409/.479. His standout performance came in the 2024-2025 season, where he hit .304/.434/.576, accumulated 14 home runs, 47 RBIs, 56 runs, and 39 stolen bases, highlighting his offensive capabilities.

Primarily playing in right field, the 21-year-old has experience across all three outfield positions, making him a valuable asset. The Dodgers chose Vidourek with a slot value of $737,000 as part of a bonus pool totaling $9,031,300 for the draft, ranking 24th among all teams.

On the first day of the draft, the Dodgers made several strategic picks, beginning with left-handed pitcher Zach Root at No. 40, followed by his University of Arkansas teammate outfielder Charles Davalan at No. 41, and right-handed pitcher Cam Leiter from Florida State University at No. 65. The team’s focused approach indicates a proactive intent to enhance their pitching and hitting capabilities.

Vidourek’s addition to the Dodgers reflects the organization’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent, and he could potentially play a significant role as he develops in the minor leagues. With a solid foundation at Cincinnati and his high school background, there is optimism around Vidourek’s future performance in the MLB. Dodgers fans and analysts alike will be eager to watch how this young prospect progresses in the coming years.
