Dodgers Hit Attendance Milestone: Can They Break Records This Season?

The recent game between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers attracted 53,568 spectators at Dodger Stadium, marking the Dodgers’ 14th sellout of the season. This attendance milestone has propelled the team past 2 million in home attendance for the year 2025, achieving this feat faster than in any previous season in franchise history. The Dodgers accomplished the same milestone in 42 games in 2024 and 43 games during their record-setting year in 2019.

With 41 home games still on the schedule, the Dodgers are well-positioned to reach 4 million fans this year, a record for the franchise. In comparison, they fell just short of that goal in 2019, with a total of 3,974,309 fans, and came close again last year with 3,941,251.

The average attendance this season stands at 50,656 per game, surpassing the previous high of 49,066 set in 2019. In the earlier part of the season, the team achieved a season-high attendance of 54,031 for a Sunday game against the New York Yankees. The Yankees series brought an impressive cumulative attendance of 159,053 across three games.

The Dodgers’ current attendance of 2,026,238 reflects a significant lead over other teams, with the second-highest attendance belonging to the Padres at 1,396,728 fans, averaging 42,325 per game, and the Yankees in third with 1,475,660 fans, averaging 42,161.

Interestingly, the Dodgers have continued to thrive in attendance numbers under the Guggenheim ownership group, never averaging fewer than 45,000 fans per game, except during the limited attendance seasons caused by COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021. This consistent attendance can be attributed to the team’s aggressive investments in star athletes like Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, in addition to other high-profile signings such as Blake Snell and Teoscar Hernández. The fans have reciprocated this commitment to building a competitive team by consistently filling the stands.

The continued support from audiences not only emphasizes the franchise’s popularity but also serves as a testament to effective management and strategic investments that aim to bring a championship-caliber team to Los Angeles. The Dodgers have successfully engaged with their fanbase, promising an exciting and prosperous season ahead.
