TAZEWELL COUNTY – On Tuesday, Tazewell County prosecutors disclosed that a Washington woman, Robyn Polston, 43, and a minor, whom she is accused of having sexual relations with, are the parents of a baby born earlier this year. This revelation follows a probable cause affidavit that confirmed through DNA testing their connection as the baby’s parents.

Polston faces serious charges, including two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of child pornography, related to incidents reported to have occurred in 2024 and 2025. Authorities conducted an investigation that revealed a significant collection of sexually explicit materials involving Polston and the minor on their cellphone accounts.

Furthermore, prosecutors learned that the duo had used burner phones and aliases to conceal their identities and that Polston allegedly attempted to involve the minor in a coverup of their actions. Prosecutors expressed concerns regarding Polston’s potential to maintain contact with the minor, noting that her family members, including her mother and sister, reportedly facilitated her behavior, making it difficult to ensure the minor’s safety.

In light of these factors, Associate Judge Derek Asbury has ordered Polston to remain in custody pending the outcome of her case. The decision reflects the belief that she may not adhere to release conditions if granted bail. Polston’s next court date is scheduled for December 4.

This disturbing case highlights ongoing issues surrounding the protection of minors and the accountability of adults in positions of trust. As the legal proceedings advance, the community remains vigilant about the welfare of its youth and the need for appropriate measures to address such serious allegations.
