DJI Osmo Nano: Ultra-light modular action camera with magnetic Vision Dock

DJI has launched the Osmo Nano, a new modular action camera that emphasizes lightweight design and versatility, weighing only 52 grams. This camera is distinguishable by its compact yet powerful configuration, featuring a 1/1.3” 35MP CMOS sensor, capable of capturing high-resolution images and recording vivid 4K video at various frame rates, including slow motion. Notably, the Osmo Nano is outfitted with a magnetically attachable Multifunctional Vision Dock, which adds an OLED touchscreen display and further connectivity options.

The Osmo Nano builds on DJI’s legacy of innovative camera technology, following the development path set by the DJI Action 2. It revisits the modular design approach, enhancing the user experience with options for flexible mounting solutions, making it particularly practical for a variety of filming environments.

Durability is a key factor, with the Osmo Nano being waterproof up to 10 meters without added housing, and offering IPX4 splash resistance for additional protection. This camera is designed for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, granting resilience against various environmental elements.

Technologically advanced, the Osmo Nano captures videos in several resolutions, ensuring high-quality footage with 10-bit color representation and D-Log M color profile for expansive editing potential. It supports stealth stabilization technology with DJI’s RockSteady 3.0, which maintains smooth footage, although it is not applicable in slow-motion modes.

Ample storage options are available, with built-in storage variants of 64GB and 128GB, and the ability to save footage on a microSD card through the Vision Dock. The dock also serves as a battery charging and high-speed file transfer hub, efficiently managing power and data with rapid transfer speeds.

The camera is packaged with a suite of smart features for enhanced functionality, including gesture control, automatic recording setups, and pre-recording capabilities, enhancing the ease of capturing memorable moments without distraction.

Currently, the Osmo Nano is available in Europe, priced at €279 for the 64GB model and €309 for the 128GB version. Availability in the U.S. market is yet to be confirmed, as DJI continues to fine-tune its strategies for meeting local demand effectively.

DJI’s ongoing innovations with the Osmo Nano indicate a promising addition to the action camera market, reflecting adaptability similar to that seen in products like the Insta360 GO series. This camera might become a favored choice for those seeking a highly portable yet capable filming device.
