Preparations are in full swing as the Vanualevu Sanatan Naari Sabha gears up to delight the public with authentic Indian sweets at the upcoming Mirchi FM & Radio Fiji Two “REWA” Diwali Dhoom. Sashi Prasad, President of the Sabha, shared that the women are fervently engaged in crafting a variety of unique sweets to share with event-goers.
One of the standout attractions anticipated at the event is the special Indian sweet “Modak,” which has become a much-awaited treat for attendees in Labasa. Prasad expressed enthusiasm, inviting everyone to enjoy the feast at their stall, aptly named Swad Hub, where a multitude of flavorful sweets and foods will be available for sampling.
Among other popular items being prepared are gulab jamun, enhancing the sweet offerings further. This festive celebration, set to take place at Damodar City Labasa this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., promises to be a night filled with taste and tradition.
The “REWA” Diwali Dhoom event represents more than a culinary journey; it is part of a broader celebration across Fiji, where Diwali is cherished as one of the nation’s significant multicultural and interfaith festivals. This event offers not just delicacies but a vivid experience of community spirit and cultural vibrance.
As Diwali marks a time of unity, peace, and goodwill, events like these play a crucial role in weaving together the rich cultural tapestry of Fiji, fostering an environment of inclusion and celebration of diversity. Through the sweet melodies of Indian confectionery, such gatherings highlight the blend of tradition and the festive communal spirit that is integral to Diwali’s joyous observance.
