Diwali Dhoom Lights Up Labasa with Modak Delights

Preparations are well underway as the Vanualevu Sanatan Naari Sabha gets ready to tantalize the public with authentic Indian sweets at the eagerly anticipated Mirchi FM & Radio Fiji Two “REWA” Diwali Dhoom celebration. Sashi Prasad, the President of the Sabha, shared that the women are passionately engaged in creating a diverse array of unique sweets for event-goers to enjoy.

A major highlight expected at the event is the special Indian sweet “Modak,” a much-loved treat among attendees in Labasa. Prasad expressed great enthusiasm, inviting everyone to relish the offerings at their stall, named Swad Hub, where a wide variety of delectable sweets and foods will be available for sampling.

In addition to the standout Modak, other popular treats such as gulab jamun are being prepared to enhance the sweet offerings further. Scheduled to take place at Damodar City Labasa this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the event promises a night brimming with flavors and tradition.

The “REWA” Diwali Dhoom event signifies more than just a culinary adventure; it is part of a broader celebration throughout Fiji, where Diwali is regarded as one of the nation’s key multicultural and interfaith festivals. This event offers not only delicious food but also an engaging experience of community spirit and cultural vibrancy.

As Diwali signifies a period of unity, peace, and goodwill, events like these play an essential role in weaving together Fiji’s rich cultural tapestry, promoting an inclusive and diverse celebratory atmosphere. Through the sweet melodies of Indian confectionery, such gatherings highlight the fusion of tradition and festive communal spirit central to Diwali’s joyful observance.
