Dive into Thrills: Six Flags Unveils Record-Breaking Coaster “Wrath of Rakshasa”!

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is gearing up for the highly anticipated debut of its new dive coaster, “Wrath of Rakshasa,” which is set to open on May 31. This record-breaking attraction stands at an impressive 171 feet tall and boasts the steepest drop of any dive coaster in the world, plunging 96 feet at an angle of 85 degrees.

The ride promises to deliver an exhilarating experience with five inversions and speeds reaching up to 67 miles per hour. Situated in the County Fair area of the park, “Wrath of Rakshasa” will also feature a thematic element with “The Ornelas Brothers’ traveling exhibition,” showcasing intriguing artifacts linked to the legendary demon that inspires the ride.

Recently, NBC 5 correspondents Matt Rodrigues and Alicia Roman had the chance to test the coaster, expressing their excitement with shouts of “one more time!” as they completed their ride. The park previously invited volunteers for a promotional commercial, emphasizing the commitment needed with a requirement to ride multiple times.

The “Wrath of Rakshasa” is built by Bolliger & Mabillard, renowned for crafting some of Six Flags Great America’s most favorite rides like Batman: The Ride, Raging Bull, and X-Flight. With its unique features and thrilling design, the coaster is expected to be a standout attraction for thrill-seekers and could enhance the park’s reputation as a leading destination for roller coaster enthusiasts.

As the opening date approaches, excitement builds among guests eager to experience this new adventure. The park’s new addition not only represents an advancement in amusement park attractions but also contributes to the community’s spirit by drawing visitors and creating memorable experiences.
