Sterling K. Brown is set to return to Hulu this summer in the adventure series “Washington Black,” which is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, July 23. The series, based on Esi Edugyan’s acclaimed novel, unfolds the extraordinary journey of an 11-year-old boy named George Washington “Wash” Black, played by newcomer Eddie Karanja. Wash grows up on a sugar plantation in Barbados and finds his world turned upside down by a tragic event that prompts him to escape.
Brown takes on the role of Medwin Harris, a charismatic and adventurous figure who, having faced a challenging childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia, becomes a mentor to Wash. The cast also features Tom Ellis, known for his role in “Lucifer,” as Christopher “Titch” Wilde, an imaginative inventor whose joyful demeanor hides deeper vulnerabilities.
In coordination with the upcoming series, other exciting premieres are on the horizon, including the live-action “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado” on July 2, Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun’s post-apocalyptic romance “Love Me” on June 16, and a streaming debut of “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” on June 27. Additionally, “Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical,” a celebration of the beloved Peanuts characters, will be available on Apple TV+ on July 18, and the eighth season of “Somebody Feed Phil” is set to hit Netflix on June 18.
These upcoming titles highlight the diverse range of storytelling available on various streaming platforms, offering viewers an engaging mix of adventure, exploration, and nostalgia this summer.
