The Sea Life Florida aquarium at Legoland Florida Resort in Winter Haven is gearing up for its grand opening on June 6, with the arrival of its first marine inhabitants. Among the newcomers are a reef shark imported from Germany, as well as clownfish, cownose stingrays, and unicorn tangs, all of which are now settling into the facility’s main oceanarium, aptly named Theme Park Under the Sea.

Curator Sarah McMahon emphasized the significance of this transition from construction to conservation. She noted that each new fish, ray, and shark represents an opportunity to ignite curiosity and foster a deep appreciation for ocean conservation among visitors.

In addition to the marine life, Sea Life Florida will feature over 25 interactive exhibits, including a stingray bay and hands-on rockpools, across 10 underwater-themed galleries. The aquarium is designed to accommodate all guests, being fully ADA accessible, and aims to achieve certification as a Certified Autism Center as part of an overarching initiative at the resort.

To offer a preview of the aquarium, annual passholders will be granted exclusive access starting May 23, before the public opening.

This development at Sea Life Florida reflects a growing trend in theme parks and resorts to incorporate educational and conservation-focused attractions, inspiring visitors to connect with marine ecosystems positively.
