The issue of repetitive content within certain categories on the platform ‘Divar’ has caused challenges for users, leading them to struggle in finding diverse options amid identical and low-quality advertisements. To address this situation and ensure a fair space for all users, the team behind the “Fair Use of Divar” initiative has taken significant action, resulting in the banning of 66,000 rule-breaking users from posting free ads and the removal of 615,000 spam ads from the platform.
The team has implemented various measures, including the continuous identification and removal of duplicate ads with the aid of artificial intelligence, along with a thorough review of the objection and refund processes. Smart restrictions are also being applied to flag users who continuously violate the rules.
Simultaneously, the process for users to contest rejected ads and request refunds has been updated to prevent any financial exploitation. Methodologies such as repeatedly changing ad categories to circumvent fees and limitations have also been recognized and completely blocked.
Another initiative by the team involves onboarding stricter mechanisms for users suspected of violating policies, which includes the requirement for identity verification through one-time passwords (OTPs) and restricting or removing the display of contact numbers for questionable ads. According to Divar, these proactive measures have significantly impacted the reduction of repetitive and spam ads, especially in categories that previously experienced a high volume of such content.
The efforts of the “Fair Use” team have ultimately enhanced the quality of the Divar platform. Notably, the incidence of duplicate ads has fallen from about 2.7% at the start of their initiatives to approximately 1.6% currently.
Additionally, several pathways for exploiting the refund process have been identified and blocked. As a result, 66,000 rule-breaking users have lost their ability to post free ads, while over 615,000 spam advertisements have been removed from Divar.
The “Fair Use of Divar” team emphasizes that combating misuse is an ongoing process that requires continuous vigilance. This dedication not only improves platform quality but also fosters a fair marketplace for all users, presenting a hopeful outlook for the community moving forward.
