Amid growing customer frustration and decreasing attendance at its theme parks, Walt Disney World has been discreetly offering discounts on admission and hotel stays in recent months.
Starting in May, Disney introduced discounted three-day ticket packages that permit guests to visit Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for $89 per day, while tickets for Magic Kingdom remain available separately.
These reduced ticket prices, valid through September 24, mark a significant drop from the previous peak of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.
In addition, Disney is working to lessen the overall expense of a trip to its Florida resort by lowering prices for its most affordable hotel options. A night at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort may start at $100, depending on the booking date, representing discounts of up to 27% compared to regular rates, as reported by Bloomberg.
This summer, Disney parks have also unveiled new dining packages aimed at making meals more affordable, offering reductions of 20% to 30%, according to the same report. Families can purchase all-day meal passes for $30 per child and $95 per adult, which can be used for various meals and snacks across the parks. Additionally, Disney World is reportedly expanding quick meal options, providing cheaper food for children, and implementing more flexible dining policies.
Industry experts identify the escalating costs of in-park dining as one factor contributing to declining customer satisfaction.
Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, which conducts annual surveys of Disney visitors, noted that customer satisfaction ratings fell from 90% to 60% as Disney shifted from à la carte dining to fixed-price meals at many popular restaurants.
While Testa commended Disney’s cost-cutting measures, he expressed concern that these changes might not signal a genuine commitment to affordability or improved guest experiences.
“Disney has long been willing to sacrifice a certain number of positive ratings for a certain amount of revenue,” he remarked.
