Disney’s Pricing Shake-Up: New Deals Amid Attendance Dips

Walt Disney World has been quietly lowering admission and hotel prices over recent months in response to increasing customer dissatisfaction and a drop in park attendance.

In May, Disney introduced discounted three-day ticket packages, enabling visitors to explore Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for $89 per day, though tickets for Magic Kingdom are sold separately. These reduced ticket prices, available until September 24, mark a significant decrease from the previous peak of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.

In addition to ticket discounts, Disney is working to lower overall trip costs by reducing rates for its budget hotel options. For instance, accommodations at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort could be priced as low as $100 per night, depending on booking timing, representing discounts of up to 27% from regular rates.

Moreover, the parks have launched new dining packages this summer, cutting meal expenses by 20% to 30%. Families can buy all-day meal passes for $30 per child and $95 per adult, redeemable for various meals and snacks throughout the parks. There are also increased quick meal options, more affordable children’s food, and relaxed restaurant policies.

Experts point to the rising costs of dining within the parks as a contributing factor to declining customer satisfaction. Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, noted that satisfaction ratings have dropped from 90% to 60% as Disney shifted from a la carte dining to fixed-price meals at many of its popular restaurants. While he appreciates Disney’s cost-cutting efforts, Testa warned that these measures may not demonstrate a genuine commitment to affordability or guest satisfaction.
