Disney’s Bold Move: Price Cuts Amid Attendance Decline!

Walt Disney World has been reducing admission and hotel prices in response to growing customer dissatisfaction and falling park attendance over the past few months.

Since May, Disney has offered three-day ticket packages for guests to visit Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom at a rate of $89 per day, although tickets for Magic Kingdom must be purchased separately. These discounted prices, available until September 24, represent a significant reduction from the previous high of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.

Additionally, Disney is lowering the cost of its budget hotel options. A night at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort could be available for as low as $100, depending on booking timing, reflecting discounts of up to 27% compared to standard pricing, based on Bloomberg’s analysis.

This summer, the parks have also introduced new dining packages, which can cut down meal costs by 20% to 30%. Families can opt for all-day meal passes priced at $30 per child and $95 per adult, redeemable for various meals and snacks in the parks. Disney is reportedly adding more quick meal options, affordable children’s food, and more lenient restaurant policies.

Experts point to the rising costs of dining within the parks as a key factor in the decrease of customer satisfaction. Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, indicated that satisfaction ratings dropped from 90% to 60% as Disney shifted from a la carte dining to fixed-price meals at popular restaurants. While he acknowledged the effectiveness of Disney’s cost-cutting measures, he warned that it may not indicate a genuine dedication to making visits more affordable or enhancing guest satisfaction.
