In response to growing customer dissatisfaction and declining attendance at its parks, Walt Disney World has recently implemented several discounts on admission and hotel stays. Over the last few months, the company introduced special three-day ticket packages offering access to Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for $89 per day, with separate purchases needed for the Magic Kingdom. This new pricing marks a significant reduction from the previous high of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.
Additionally, Disney is working to lower overall trip expenses by offering discounts on its most economical hotel stays. Guests can secure a night at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort for as low as $100, which equates to a discount of up to 27% off standard rates, as highlighted in a Bloomberg analysis.
In another effort to enhance the guest experience, the parks have also rolled out new dining packages this summer, offering discounts of 20% to 30%. Families can now purchase all-day meal passes for $30 per child and $95 per adult to be used for various meals and snacks within the parks. Alongside this, Disney is expanding affordable quick meal options, providing cheaper food for kids, and relaxing restaurant policies.
Experts note that rising food costs within the parks contribute to declining customer satisfaction. Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, mentioned that guest satisfaction ratings have plummeted from 90% to 60%, particularly following Disney’s transition to fixed-price meals at prominent restaurants.
While Testa has commended Disney’s discount initiatives, he expressed caution about whether these moves indicate a genuine commitment to enhancing affordability and customer satisfaction, suggesting that Disney might still prioritize revenue over positive guest experiences.
This shift in pricing strategy by Disney could be a hopeful sign for families seeking more affordable ways to experience the magic of its parks.
