Disney World Slashes Prices Amid Rising Customer Discontent

Facing increasing customer dissatisfaction and a drop in park attendance, Walt Disney World has been implementing discounts on admission and hotel stays in recent months.

Starting in May, Disney introduced discounted three-day ticket packages that allow guests to visit Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for $89 per day. However, tickets to Magic Kingdom must still be purchased separately.

These reduced ticket prices, available until September 24, mark a significant reduction from the previous highest rate of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.

Additionally, Disney is working to make visits to the Florida resort more affordable by lowering the prices of its budget hotel accommodations. A night at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort can be as low as $100, depending on the booking date. These discounts can reach as much as 27% off regular rates, as reported by Bloomberg.

Furthermore, new dining packages have been introduced this summer, which reduce food costs in the parks by 20% to 30%. Families can buy all-day meal passes for $30 per child and $95 per adult, allowing them to redeem meals and snacks at various locations throughout the parks. Disney World is also providing more quick meal options and cheaper food for children, alongside more flexible dining policies.

Experts attribute the rising food costs within the parks to a decline in customer satisfaction. Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, indicated that customer satisfaction ratings have plummeted from 90% to 60% as Disney transitioned from a la carte dining to fixed-price meals at many popular restaurants.

While Testa appreciates Disney’s cost-cutting strategies, he warns that these measures may not genuinely reflect a commitment to guest satisfaction or affordability. He noted, “Disney has long been willing to sacrifice a certain number of positive ratings for a certain amount of revenue.”
