Disney Teams Up with Fortnite for Epic “Absolute Doom” Season

Disney has revealed a partnership with Fortnite during its annual D23 ultimate fan event, hinting that players should brace themselves for a new season characterized by “absolute doom.”

The upcoming Chapter 5, Season 4 will introduce a variety of new Marvel skins, including characters like Gwenpool, War Machine, Mysterio, Emma Frost, and Peelverine. Players can also look forward to unique Disney-themed quests and sneak peeks related to upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films and television shows.

Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, stated, “This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of video games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. Players, gamers, and fans will have the chance to create their own stories and experiences, expressing their fandom in a distinctly Disney manner and sharing content in ways they enjoy.”

The new season, titled “Absolute Doom,” will feature a Battle Pass filled with MCU and X-Men character skins.

The collaboration coincides with the summer blockbuster featuring “Deadpool & Wolverine,” as Disney announced its Fortnite tie-in during the D23 event on August 10.

In addition to superheroes and villains, players can expect characters from Star Wars, Pixar, and other franchises owned by Disney. Alongside the new skins, gamers should be on the lookout for quests and clues that may provide insights into the future of the MCU.

As for the release schedule, Season 3 will conclude on Thursday, August 15, at 8 p.m. Arizona time. This will be followed by approximately 4-6 hours of downtime for server maintenance as the game prepares for the new season.

Chapter 5, Season 4 is set to launch on Friday, August 16. While a specific start time has yet to be confirmed, the downtime will commence at 8 p.m. Arizona time and is expected to last around 5-6 hours. Epic Games is anticipated to roll out the Season 4 content to players for download, which is rumored to be larger than usual.
