Walt Disney World has been implementing discounts on admission and hotel rates as a response to growing customer dissatisfaction and falling park attendance over recent months.
In May, Disney rolled out discounted three-day ticket packages that allow visitors to explore Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for $89 per day, although tickets for Magic Kingdom must still be purchased separately. These reduced prices will be available until September 24 and mark a significant drop from the previous high of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.
Additionally, Disney is working to lower the overall cost of a trip to the resort by offering discounts on its budget hotel options. A night at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort can now be as low as $100, depending on booking dates. This represents up to a 27% reduction from standard rates, as reported by Bloomberg.
This summer, new dining packages have also been introduced, offering discounts on dining within the parks of 20% to 30%. The meal plan allows families to buy all-day meal passes for $30 for children and $95 for adults, valid for various meals and snacks throughout the parks. Disney World is reportedly providing more quick meal alternatives, affordable options for kids, and enhanced flexibility in restaurant policies.
Experts note that increased food prices in the parks are among the factors contributing to a dip in customer satisfaction. Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, which surveys thousands of Disney visitors each year, indicated that customer satisfaction ratings plummeted from 90% to 60% following Disney’s shift from a la carte dining to fixed pricing at many popular restaurants.
While Testa commended Disney’s cost-cutting measures, he warned that these changes may not necessarily indicate a genuine commitment to making the experience more affordable or enhancing guest satisfaction.
