Disney Heiress Revives Support for Democrats After Biden’s Bold Move

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

Earlier this month, Disney had stated that she would halt her donations until there was a change in the presidential candidate. In an email to CNBC, she confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has stepped back and backed Harris’s candidacy.

When she initially declared her decision to pause contributions, Disney had expressed her support for Harris, stating, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from influential donors and a decline in campaign funds contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race.

Notable financier George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also announced their endorsement of Harris following Biden’s exit from the presidential contest.
