Disney Heiress Revives Donations as Biden Exits Race

Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has ended his reelection campaign.

Earlier this month, Disney declared she would halt her contributions to the party until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket. However, in an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has stepped down and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

When announcing her decision to withhold donations, Disney expressed her backing for Harris, emphasizing, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s, and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity, Democrats can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden, particularly following his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from influential donors and a decline in funding contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race.

Notably, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also endorsed Harris in light of Biden’s departure from the presidential race.
