Disney Heiress Reverses Course: Will She Back Kamala Harris?

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has exited the presidential race. Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, previously stated that she would halt her contributions until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket.

In a recent email to CNBC, Disney confirmed her change of stance, saying, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s decision to step down and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency. When she first declared her intentions to stop donating, Disney had also expressed her backing for Harris.

“We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she remarked.

Disney was part of a group of prominent Democratic donors who expressed their dissatisfaction with Biden after a poorly received debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from these donors, along with diminishing funds, contributed to Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Following Biden’s announcement, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their endorsement of Kamala Harris.
