Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will reinstate her donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

Disney, who is the granddaughter of one of the co-founders of The Walt Disney Company, previously indicated earlier this month that she would halt her contributions until the party replaced Biden at the top of their ticket.

In an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has stepped aside and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor for the presidential nomination.

At the time of her earlier announcement, Disney expressed her support for Harris, stating, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent donors in the Democratic Party who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden after his poor performance during the debates against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that the pressure from the donor class, coupled with a decrease in funding, played a role in Biden’s decision to withdraw.

Notable figures such as George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, have also voiced their support for Harris following Biden’s announcement.
