Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will once again provide financial support to the Democratic Party after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for reelection.
In a poll conducted by Coinbase, Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are seen as evenly matched among cryptocurrency voters.
Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, had previously stated that she would halt any donations to the party until Biden left the race. In an email to CNBC, she confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s departure and his endorsement of Harris for president.
When she initially declared her intention to withhold donations, Disney also expressed her backing for Harris. She remarked, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”
Disney was among the prominent Democratic donors who criticized Biden after a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that the pressure from wealthy donors and a decline in funding contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the race. Following Biden’s withdrawal, notable figures like George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Harris.
