Disney Heiress Rejoins Democratic Donors After Biden’s Exit

Heiress Abigail Disney announced her intention to resume donations to the Democratic Party after President Joe Biden officially ended his reelection campaign. Earlier this month, Disney had stated that she would halt any contributions until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket.

In an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her decision, saying, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

Disney had previously expressed her support for Harris during her announcement to withhold donations, praising the Vice President and lamenting the unfair tolerance afforded to Biden compared to Harris due to issues surrounding race and gender. “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s… we can win this election by a lot,” she remarked.

Disney’s discontent with Biden escalated after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump, joining a growing list of elite Democratic donors urging a change in leadership. Reports suggest that the pressure from this donor class contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race. Following Biden’s departure, notable figures like George Soros and his son Alex Soros also endorsed Harris.
