Heiress Abigail Disney has announced she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has officially withdrawn from the reelection race.

Earlier this month, Disney, who is a granddaughter of The Walt Disney Company’s co-founder, stated that she would halt her contributions to the party until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket. Following Biden’s decision to step aside and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor, she confirmed in an email to CNBC on Monday, “Yes, I will resume supporting.”

When she initially declared her intention to stop donations, Disney expressed her backing for Harris. She stated, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several elite donors in the Democratic Party who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden following what was perceived as a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from the donor class, combined with dwindling funds, contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the race.

Additionally, prominent liberal donor George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Harris after Biden’s announcement.
