Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Disney, a member of the Disney family and grandchild of Co-Founder Walt Disney, previously indicated that she would cease contributions until a new candidate was chosen to lead the Democratic ticket.

In an email to CNBC, Disney confirmed her return to supporting the party, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

Earlier this month, Disney expressed her backing for Harris, emphasizing the Vice President’s qualifications while highlighting the unfair treatment that women and minorities often face in politics. She suggested that if the Democratic Party could unite behind Harris, despite any criticisms, they would stand a good chance of winning the upcoming election.

Disney was among a number of high-profile Democratic donors who expressed discontent with Biden following his poor performance in a debate against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that significant pressure from this group contributed to Biden’s decision to step down. Prominent figures such as George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Harris after Biden’s announcement.
