Amid increasing customer dissatisfaction and declining attendance, Walt Disney World has been offering discounts on admission and hotel stays recently.
Starting in May, Disney introduced discounted three-day ticket packages that allow visitors to experience Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom for just $89 per day. However, tickets for Magic Kingdom must still be purchased separately.
These reduced ticket prices, available until September 24, represent a significant drop from the previous high of $254 for a daily Park Hopper pass.
Additionally, Disney is working to lessen the overall cost for guests visiting the Florida resort by slashing the prices of its most affordable hotel rooms. Stays at Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resort can be as low as $100 per night, depending on the booking date. Some of these discounts reach up to 27% off typical rates, according to a Bloomberg analysis.
This summer, the parks have also launched new dining packages that lower food costs by 20% to 30%. Families can opt for all-day meal passes priced at $30 for children and $95 for adults, which can be used for various meals and snacks throughout the parks. Disney World is also reportedly providing quicker meal options and more affordable kid-friendly meals alongside adjusted restaurant policies.
Disney experts have pointed to the rising costs of dining in the parks as a significant factor in declining customer satisfaction ratings.
Len Testa, president of TouringPlans.com, which surveys thousands of Disney customers each year, indicated that satisfaction ratings have dropped from 90% to 60% as Disney transitioned from a la carte dining to fixed-price meals at many popular restaurants.
While Testa commended Disney’s cost-cutting efforts, he warned that these moves may not genuinely reflect a dedication to affordability or enhancing guest satisfaction.
“Disney has long been willing to sacrifice a certain number of positive ratings for a certain amount of revenue,” he stated.
