In a significant shift for streaming services, The Walt Disney Company plans to integrate the Hulu app into Disney+, allowing customers to access their favorite shows and movies from both platforms through a single application starting in 2026. During the company’s recent quarterly earnings call, CEO Bob Iger emphasized that this move aims to deliver an “impressive package of entertainment” that combines top brands, general entertainment, kids’ content, news, and premier live sports all in one user-friendly interface.

As part of this transition, viewers can expect to see key changes in the Disney+ app. Notably, the Star tile will be replaced by Hulu globally starting this fall. Additionally, Iger mentioned plans for a more personalized homepage to enhance user navigation as they prepare for this integration. While the combined app will be available, subscribers will still have the choice to maintain separate standalone Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions, as well as bundled options.

This development follows Disney’s acquisition of full control over Hulu back in June, after having partnered with the service since 2019. As part of the lead-up to the integration, Disney+ has already started offering standalone subscribers a selection of Hulu content, featuring popular films and series.

This integration marks an exciting evolution in the streaming landscape, promising a more streamlined viewing experience where users can access a broader range of content without the need to switch between apps.

The forthcoming changes are a step towards enhancing customer convenience and could serve to strengthen Disney’s position in an ever-competitive streaming market. With increased access to diverse programming, subscribers can look forward to a more enriched entertainment experience.
