Disney revealed its partnership with Fortnite at the recent D23 Ultimate Fan Event, indicating that Fortnite players should brace themselves for an upcoming season themed around “absolute doom.”
The new Chapter 5, Season 4 will introduce a range of Marvel skins, including characters like Gwenpool, War Machine, Mysterio, Emma Frost, and Peelverine, among others. Additionally, players can look forward to Disney-themed quests that may offer insights into future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films and shows.
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, stated, “This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of video games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. Players, gamers, and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love.”
The new season, titled “Absolute Doom,” will feature a Battle Pass filled with MCU and X-Men character skins, further fueled by the recent Marvel blockbuster featuring Deadpool and Wolverine and Disney’s announcement of the Fortnite collaboration.
In addition to superheroes and villains, players can anticipate appearances from characters across the Star Wars and Pixar franchises, leveraging Disney’s extensive catalogue.
Moreover, players are advised to keep an eye out for quests and clues that may hint at the future of the MCU.
As for timing, Chapter 5, Season 4 will officially launch on Friday, August 16, following the conclusion of Season 3 on Thursday, August 15, at 8 p.m. Arizona time. During this transition, there will be an estimated 4 to 6 hours of downtime for backend maintenance and game updates.
While a specific start time for Season 4 hasn’t been confirmed, players can expect the patch to require a larger-than-usual download as Epic begins rolling out the content to servers.
