The Disney Adventure is set to stay docked at Bremerhaven for a few additional months, as reported by German media. Originally slated to launch with Disney Cruise Line in December, the ship’s inaugural sailing has now been rescheduled for March 2026 due to construction delays.

Current reports from Buten und Binnen indicate that thousands of workers, primarily from Eastern Europe, Ireland, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands, are engaged in completing the final touches on the vessel. The construction is being undertaken by Meyer Werft shipyard, which took over the project when Disney acquired the unfinished ship.

Initially commissioned by the now-defunct Dream Cruises and named Global Dream, the vessel’s construction began at the Wismar facility in 2019. Disney Cruise Line purchased the half-finished ship in late 2022, subsequently announcing plans to redesign its interiors and features.

Following its initial sea trials, the Disney Adventure reached Bremerhaven in early September and is now the first ship in Disney’s fleet aimed at the Asian market. It is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage on March 10, 2026.

“This ship represents a bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line, as we transform a partially built vessel into a fully reimagined Disney experience at sea,” Disney stated. The company acknowledged the unexpected delays in their recent postponement notice.

Once operational, the 208,000-gross-ton ship will embark from the Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore, operating a year-round schedule of short cruises throughout Southeast Asia. Notably, the itineraries for these three- and four-night trips will not include any ports of call, meaning the ship will remain at sea for the entire duration.

When it starts sailing, the Disney Adventure will be the largest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and among the largest in the world, offering an exciting new dimension to cruise experiences in the region. The anticipation surrounding its debut reflects the optimism for expanded maritime adventures with Disney.
