In response to the challenges posed by high demand, the New York state legislature recently voted to prohibit third-party booking sites like Appointment Trader, where users were reselling restaurant reservations for exorbitant prices exceeding $200. This practice, akin to scalping for concerts and sports events, has garnered significant attention.

Melissa Fleischut, the President & CEO of the New York State Restaurant Association, termed the legislative move a significant win for the hospitality sector, aimed at reducing reservation competition and shielding restaurants from costly cancellations.
