Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence are set to reunite on-screen for a new film, “What Happens at Night,” directed by renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese. This reunion follows their successful collaboration in the 2021 dark comedy, “Don’t Look Up.” The film is an adaptation of Peter Cameron’s novel and promises a much darker theme compared to their previous project.

The storyline follows an American couple journeying to a European town with the hope of adopting a baby. During their stay at a decrepit hotel, they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters, and as the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems. The couple faces challenges both from the mysterious hotel and from their own personal struggles, particularly as the wife deals with cancer.

The project is currently in the negotiation phase between Apple Original Films and Studiocanal, and production is expected to start in January. This timing means that the film may not be ready for the Halloween season, but its eerie and mysterious themes make it a highly anticipated release.

“What Happens at Night” marks a return to the thriller genre for DiCaprio and Scorsese, who previously collaborated on the acclaimed film, “Shutter Island.” This film also represents a new venture for DiCaprio into supernatural horror, a genre he has not extensively explored. Meanwhile, Lawrence brings her experience from horror-adjacent films like “mother!” to the project.

Though the film has yet to be rated, there is significant interest and high expectations due to the successful track records of DiCaprio, Lawrence, and Scorsese. Fans of the actors and the director eagerly await what promises to be a compelling and suspenseful story.
