Throughout September, residents of Henry County will observe several diaper drop-off boxes strategically placed across the area as part of a collaborative diaper drive organized by the Rotary Clubs of Mt. Pleasant in support of The Family Connection.
These blue drop-off boxes can be found at Central Park Coffee among other locations. Community members, businesses, and organizations are invited to contribute by donating packages of diapers, particularly sizes 3, 4, 5, and 6, at participating sites until September 30th. The list of drop-off locations includes American Family Insurance — M.A. Hamilton, Central Park Coffee Company, Five Star Community Credit Union, Henry County Courthouse, Mt. Pleasant Public Library, People’s Bank Wayland, both Mt. Pleasant locations of Pilot Grove Savings Bank, and Your Choice Restaurant in Wayland.
Additionally, Mt. Pleasant Rotary will host specific diaper collection events at Hy-Vee in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, September 21, and again on Saturday, September 28, between 9-11 a.m. All collected diapers will be donated to The Family Connection to help replenish their “Parents Place,” a service where eligible participants can exchange points for diapers, wipes, and essential baby items.
The Rotary organization is committed to fostering international relationships, enhancing lives, and creating a better world, including efforts focused on Child & Maternal Health and Wellness. This diaper drive aligns with those goals and aims to improve the wellbeing of families in Henry County.
The Family Connection emphasizes the critical role of parents in a child’s education and development. They offer various support services for families, including private meetings, home visits, parenting classes, playgroups, and family events for residents of Henry County with children from prenatal to age five. Through participation in these programs, parents can earn points redeemable for necessities like diapers, wipes, laundry detergent, and other basic supplies.
