The Arizona Diamondbacks are set to host the Mexican national baseball team in an exciting exhibition game as part of their 2026 spring training schedule. The matchup will take place at Salt River Fields on March 3, just three days prior to Mexico’s opening game in the World Baseball Classic against Great Britain.
Following their visit to Arizona, Team Mexico will compete against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch on March 4. Unlike the previous season, when Arizona hosted several World Baseball Classic games, the 2026 spring training will feature numerous exhibition matchups between MLB teams and national teams preparing for the tournament.
Among the notable games scheduled, Team USA will play against the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium on March 3 and face the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields the following day. Other national teams including Italy, Brazil, and Cuba are also scheduled to play exhibition games throughout Cactus League ballparks, contributing to a total of 28 pre-tournament games.
The excitement surrounding the World Baseball Classic has been palpable, especially after Mexico’s impressive run in the 2023 tournament where they were highlighted by standout performances from players like Randy Arozarena, Isaac Paredes, and Joey Meneses. D-backs outfielder Alek Thomas also represented Mexico, showcasing the growing connection between the franchise and the national team.
Looking ahead, it has been confirmed that the Diamondbacks will play a two-game series against the San Diego Padres in Mexico City next season, further strengthening their ties to the country.
As the Diamondbacks gear up for spring training, their official schedule shows pitchers and catchers reporting to Salt River Fields on February 11, with full-squad workouts commencing on February 16. Their first Cactus League game will be held against the Colorado Rockies on February 20, kicking off a series of competitive matchups leading to the regular season opener on March 26 against the Dodgers.
With anticipation building for both the exhibition games and the upcoming season, Diamondbacks fans have a lot to look forward to as the organization prepares to showcase its talent and strengthen international relationships through baseball.
