Detours Ahead as Vakabuli Bridge Closes in Lautoka

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has announced that the Vakabuli Timber Bridge in Lautoka will be temporarily closed to facilitate urgent repair and improvement works. This closure is scheduled from 9:00pm on Saturday, September 27, to 7:00am on Monday, September 29, 2025.

To ensure public convenience and safety, FRA will post advance road closure signs to guide motorists through designated detour routes. The alternative route will take drivers along Vakabuli Indian School Road, Drasa Cemetery Road, Vakabuli Village Road, and Main Kings Road. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and exercise caution when navigating near the construction zone.

This temporary closure illustrates FRA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the safety and reliability of infrastructure across the region, similar to other FRA initiatives that have been undertaken in different areas to ensure safe access and enhance road quality. The community is appreciative of these efforts, understanding that while repairs may temporarily disrupt accessibility, they ultimately aim for safer and more efficient transportation options in the future.
