Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot last week and treated for minor injuries. The incident occurred last Friday when Reynolds, who is currently on the injured reserve list due to a broken finger, was attacked while out with two companions.
Reynolds, a veteran player who joined the Broncos in March and previously played college football at Texas A&M, sustained injuries to his left arm and the back of his head. Another man involved in the incident was wounded in the back, while a third individual suffered injuries from shattered glass. All three escaped the gunfire by climbing over a fence.
Denver police have arrested two suspects, Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, who are facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Charlesworth reportedly stated he was intervening in a prior conflict when the shooting occurred.
The shooting took place around 3 a.m. on Interstate 25, where the suspects allegedly followed Reynolds and his friends before opening fire. The vehicle carrying Reynolds was found abandoned near Bellevue after it became inoperable. Police later closed parts of the interstate to search for evidence associated with the shooting.
The Broncos released a brief statement regarding the incident, confirming that Reynolds was a victim and emphasizing their respect for the ongoing legal process.
