Meteorologist Sam Lucey has provided an insightful forecast for the upcoming weather, highlighting a foggy start to Friday for several counties. Overnight, clouds are expected to thicken, resulting in mild temperatures in the lower 60s. A Dense Fog Advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday, particularly impacting Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, and Pearl River Counties. Residents should exercise caution during the morning commute, as visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less in some areas. It’s advisable to slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow for extra travel time.

As the fog lifts later in the morning, a mix of sun and clouds is anticipated, accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms through midday. High temperatures are projected to reach the upper 70s, but a few light showers are expected to linger into the night.

The weekend begins with warm weather on Saturday, with highs again in the upper 70s, though only a slight chance of rain is anticipated late in the day. However, a significant change is on the horizon as a strong cold front approaches on Sunday. This will usher in sunny conditions with breezy north winds and a noticeable temperature drop, with Sunday’s highs only reaching the low 70s. Lows are set to plunge to around 40 degrees by Monday morning.

Monday’s outlook is for sunny but much cooler weather, with high temperatures in the mid-50s. A brisk north wind will make it feel even colder, and widespread frost is expected by Tuesday morning, with the possibility of freezing conditions.

Fortunately, temperatures are expected to rebound as the week progresses, with highs returning to the 70s by Wednesday and Thursday, providing a warming trend to look forward to after the initial cold snap.
