Delta-Uber SkyMiles Link Expands Rewards, Launches Express Drop-Off Pilot

Delta Air Lines and Uber have strengthened their collaboration, creating new opportunities for SkyMiles Members to accumulate rewards and simplify their travel experiences. This partnership, which launched in April, aims to redefine loyalty programs by blending travel, lifestyle, and technology, as highlighted during its announcement at CES 2025.

Starting this week, SkyMiles Members can connect their accounts at delta.com/uber, facilitating automatic miles accumulation on eligible Uber rides and orders. This initiative is designed to enhance the travel experience, making it even more rewarding for members.

In an exciting development, Delta and Uber have introduced a pilot program at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) ahead of the busy holiday season. This new airport drop-off system aims to reduce congestion while improving customer service. Travelers can now select the “Express Drop Off, Checked-In” option for drop-off in designated areas, where they receive curbside support, intuitive wayfinding assistance, and a quick route to security. To celebrate the launch of this program, passengers will be treated to giveaways, further enhancing convenience and flow.

Joshua Kaehler, Delta’s managing director of loyalty partnerships, underscored the value of collaborations in enhancing customer experiences. “This pilot is a great example of how we’re using partnerships to solve real customer pain points,” he stated, emphasizing the goal of redefining travel by increasing choices and hospitality.

The response to this initiative has been strong, with over 1.4 million SkyMiles Members linking their Delta and Uber accounts. This figures reflects the success of Delta’s strategy to broaden loyalty rewards beyond just in-flight travel. Members now have the chance to earn rewards not only while traveling but also in their daily activities, whether commuting, visiting the airport, or ordering food.

When their accounts are linked, members can earn miles on various Uber services:

– 3 miles for every dollar spent on Uber Reserve trips.
– 2 miles for every dollar spent on premium rides, including Uber Comfort and Uber Black.
– 1 mile for every dollar spent on airport rides via UberX.
– 1 mile for every dollar spent on Uber Eats orders over $40.

For a limited time, SkyMiles Members can also access exclusive in-flight offers on Delta Sync Wi-Fi, which includes discounts on their next Uber Reserve ride. This service is designed to streamline travel arrangements, with the system adjusting reservations according to flight arrival times, ensuring seamless transitions from landing to transportation.

This initiative exemplifies Delta’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience through strategic partnerships. By collaborating with well-known brands like Uber, Delta is creating a comprehensive lifestyle ecosystem that prioritizes customer convenience and rewards. Members are encouraged to link their accounts to maximize earning potential and elevate their travel experiences.
