DelFest made its much-anticipated return to the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland, on Thursday, May 22, marking the beginning of its 17th season. The festival kicked off with an impressive performance by The Del McCoury Band, led by the legendary 86-year-old bluegrass artist himself.
Following their captivating set, the stage was taken over by Sister Sadie, an all-female group from Nashville, known for their unique blend of folk and bluegrass. Their infectious energy resonated with the audience, setting a lively atmosphere for the festival.
The night continued with Dan Tyminski, famous for his contributions to the soundtrack of “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?”, who showcased his remarkable guitar skills. The Wood Brothers then took the stage, bringing their distinctive sound following a recent tour with The String Cheese Incident.
As the night wore on into the early hours of Friday, May 23, The Kitchen Dwellers kept the momentum alive, delighting the crowd with dynamic performances. The evening concluded with the Larry Keel Experience, wrapping up a thrilling opening day before the festival continued.
