Saimoni Nacolawa, a lawyer, expressed immense relief after the High Court in Lautoka dismissed sedition and political violence charges against him and 25 co-defendants on Thursday. Justice Samuela Qica concluded that the prosecution had not presented credible evidence to support claims that the group had plotted to overthrow the Government back in 2015.

Nacolawa, who represents Nacolawa and Company, described the lengthy legal battle, which spanned nearly a decade, as the most challenging period of his professional career. His involvement in the case was reportedly triggered by a client who had mistakenly associated his name with the allegations on a laptop.

Reflecting on the turmoil caused by the case, Nacolawa expressed profound gratitude to his legal team for their unwavering dedication during times when he felt despondent about the outcome. He noted that his family endured significant distress throughout the ordeal but were overjoyed with the favorable verdict.

Looking toward the future, Nacolawa shared his plans to retire by the end of the year and is eager to spend more quality time with his family, indicating a hopeful and positive outlook after overcoming a challenging chapter in his professional life.
