DAYTON, OH — Attention is focused on an impending storm system set to deliver significantly colder air and the region’s first chance of snow this season. Current forecasts indicate a higher likelihood that this snow may accumulate on grassy and elevated surfaces.

Meteorologists from Storm Center 7 are actively tracking the development of this storm, with Austin Chaney providing detailed updates on the latest timing and potential impacts during the live broadcasts on News Center 7 at 5:00 and 6:00 PM.

As we approach Saturday, the weather is expected to remain typical for November, with increasing cloud cover and daytime highs in the mid-50s. On Saturday night, a low-pressure system will arrive, bringing rain. However, as winds shift to the north early Sunday morning, colder air will sweep in, resulting in a rain/snow mix throughout Sunday. Temperatures are expected to stay above freezing during the day, which means the precipitation could alternate between rain and snow, although no significant accumulation is anticipated.

Looking ahead to Sunday night into Monday, much colder air will settle over the region as temperatures drop into the 20s. By this time, any ongoing precipitation will fall as snow, with light accumulations of a dusting to half an inch possible on elevated surfaces. Fortunately, temperatures on the roads are currently above freezing, which should help mitigate any travel disruptions.

The Storm Center 7 team will provide ongoing updates regarding the timing of the rain/snow transition, expected snow amounts, and any impacts throughout the weekend, ensuring residents are well-informed and prepared for the change in conditions.
