HAMPTON, Ga. – This weekend, the NASCAR O’Reilly Series makes its second consecutive appearance at a drafting track, following the NASCAR Cup Series. After last week’s thrilling race at Daytona International Speedway, the attention shifts to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the series’ second event of the season.
On Friday evening, the NOAPS held its qualifying session where Corey Day took the spotlight in the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. Day made a strong impression by advancing to the second round and clocking in a second lap time of 32.036 seconds, securing the ninth position on Saturday’s starting grid.
Day expressed his eagerness for the race, stating, “I’m excited for the race tomorrow, it looks super-fast paced, and you can build some decent-sized runs. So, I’m excited. Kind of used to this new track thing now so yeah, I think it’ll be a lot of fun.”
This race marks Day’s inaugural start at the 1.54-mile quad-oval track and signifies Hendrick Motorsports’ return to the series for the first time since 2007. Fans can catch the action on Saturday at 5 p.m. as the race will be broadcast on the CW network.
With a promising lineup and the excitement surrounding Day’s return, this weekend is set to deliver thrilling racing moments and high-speed action at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
