The upcoming exhibition “Up in Flames” will mark the first and largest showcase of David Lynch’s artistic work in the Czech Republic. Set to highlight the creative journey of this iconic filmmaker and artist, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Paris-based studio Item éditions and Lynch’s representative gallery, Pace in Los Angeles.
This retrospective will particularly shine a light on Lynch’s recent artistic endeavors from the last seven years, showcasing his expansive and diverse range of work, which spans drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, design, and animation over nearly six decades. Visitors can expect to see a rich collection of these mediums, as well as experimental short films, all thoughtfully curated to follow thematic rather than chronological connections that define Lynch’s unique artistic vision.
In addition to visual art, the exhibition will feature music, film, and literary programs, promising a multifaceted experience for attendees. Lynch, best known for his critically acclaimed works such as “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet,” and “Twin Peaks,” has personally engaged in the curation process alongside curator Otto M. Urban to ensure a cohesive presentation of his works.
Urban expressed the importance of structuring the exhibition thoughtfully to allow the artworks to interact and create new contexts. This focus on the interplay of works aims to build an engaging narrative that resonates with both longstanding fans and new audiences.
“Up in Flames” is scheduled to run from June 19, 2025, to February 8, 2026, with viewing hours from Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This exhibition promises to be a significant cultural event, celebrating the artistic legacy of David Lynch and offering a rare opportunity to explore the depths of his creative expression.
