Dave Franco and his wife, Alison Brie, have experienced the quirks of love, especially when it comes to staying at Franco’s childhood home. In a recent interview with Bustle to promote his film “Regretting You,” Franco shared a humorous anecdote about their visits to his family in Palo Alto, California. He revealed that during these stays, the couple would squeeze into his old twin bed from childhood, a setup that ultimately led Brie to declare, “Babe, I love you. I love your mom. I love your hometown. I can’t do that anymore.”
Franco, 40, recalled how his mother hadn’t changed his room since he left at 18, including the twin bed that presented quite the challenge for him and Brie, 42. Fortunately, recognizing the discomfort, his family eventually upgraded to a larger bed in his childhood bedroom.
The couple, who first crossed paths at Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2011 and wed in 2017, frequently share stories about their affectionate relationship. They continue to work together creatively, having collaborated on the upcoming horror film “Together,” set for release in 2025.
Franco also discussed his latest role in “Regretting You,” which is based on a novel by Colleen Hoover. He mentioned that he sees himself as a romantic person, asserting that he is “much more romantic” than Brie might perceive him to be. These days, he enjoys the simple pleasures of life, like cozy nights in with Brie and their cats, favoring documentaries over nightlife.
After the release of “Regretting You,” Franco is set to appear in the highly anticipated sequel “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” this November. He is also brainstorming ideas for an erotic thriller and has entertained the possibility of acting in a romantic comedy alongside Brie.
Reflecting on their partnership, Franco is content to embrace any labels that might come from collaborating with his wife, stating, “If the downside of working with my wife is that people are saying, ‘Oh, that’s just Alison Brie’s husband,’ that’s fine. It’s worth it.”
With both love and creativity flourishing between them, Franco and Brie are indeed a couple to watch in the years to come. “Regretting You” is currently showing in theaters.
