Dart’s Historic Milestone: setting Records and Eyes on Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a thrilling finale to his college football career, Jaxson Dart, the senior quarterback for the Ole Miss Rebels, made history in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Duke. Dart set a new single-season record for total offense at Ole Miss, breaking the previous record of 4,542 yards set by Chad Kelly in 2015. To achieve this milestone, Dart needed 215 total yards, which he accomplished in impressive fashion.

In addition to his total offense record, Dart also surpassed Kelly’s record for passing yards in a single season, which stood at 4,042 yards. Both records were established during a pivotal 12-play, 61-yard drive that culminated in a field goal, extending Ole Miss’s lead to 17-0 against the Blue Devils. As the game reached halftime, Dart had tallied 172 passing yards and 46 rushing yards.

This season, Dart also surpassed Ole Miss legend Eli Manning in career passing yardage during the Egg Bowl, further cementing his legacy within the program. Despite these personal achievements, Dart emphasized his focus on securing a team victory. A win in the Gator Bowl would mark the first time since 1959-60 that the Rebels achieve back-to-back 10-win seasons.

Dart’s accomplishments not only elevate his status in Ole Miss football history but also highlight the team’s potential moving forward. The upcoming second half of the game holds promise as the Rebels aim to finish strong and clinch this significant milestone.

This is a remarkable achievement for Dart and the Ole Miss football program, showcasing the hard work and dedication that can lead to both individual and team success. With Dart’s leadership, the future looks bright for Ole Miss as they continue to build on their recent accomplishments.
