Dart Breaks Records: A Historic Day for Ole Miss Football

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a historic performance, Jaxson Dart, the senior quarterback for Ole Miss, set a new single-season record for total offense during the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Duke. To surpass Chad Kelly’s previous record of 4,542 total yards set in 2015, Dart needed 215 yards entering the game. Throughout the matchup, he accomplished this milestone by breaking both the total offense and passing yardage records for the program.

During a pivotal 12-play, 61-yard drive that led to a field goal, Dart not only established the new total offense record but also eclipsed Kelly’s passing yard record from 2015, which stood at 4,042 yards. By the time the game reached halftime, Dart had accumulated 172 passing yards and 46 rushing yards.

In the context of his remarkable career, this season Dart also passed Ole Miss legend Eli Manning in total passing yardage, marking another significant achievement in his time with the Rebels.

Despite his personal accomplishments, Dart expressed a desire to focus on team success, stating that a win in the Gator Bowl would mark Ole Miss’s first back-to-back 10-win seasons since 1959-60.

These milestones underscore Dart’s impact on the program and highlight the promise of continued excellence for the Ole Miss football team.

In a season filled with records and personal achievements, this moment serves as a reminder of the power of teamwork and determination in college sports, leaving fans hopeful for what lies ahead for the Rebels.
